ABOUT NSS
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs[1] and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community (esp. Villages) linkage.
The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are :
i. understand the community in which they work
ii. understand themselves in relation to their community
iii. identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
iv. develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
v. utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
vi. develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
vii. gain skills in mobilising community participation
viii. acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
ix. develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
x. practise national integration and social harmony
Motto:
The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students development & appreciation to other person’s point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.
NSS Activities
There are two types of activities: Regular Activities (120 hours) and Annual Special Camp (120 hours). All the NSS Volunteers who have served NSS for at least 2 years and have performed 240 hours of work under NSS are entitled to a certificate from the university under the signature of the Vice-Chancellor and the Programme Coordinator. The Annual camps are known as Special Camps. Camps are held annually, funded by the government of India, and are usually located in a rural village or a city suburb. Volunteers may be involved in such activities as:
Regular activities
1. Blood detection camps, blood donation etc.
2. Campus cleaning.
3. Celebration of important days.
4. Orientation camps.
5. Participation of students in various seminars conducted all over the state.
6. Various cultural activities aiming at personality development of students.
7. Raising of funds for various altruistic activities.
8. Plantation
Special Camp
Special Camping forms an integral part of National Service Scheme. It has special appeal to the youth as it provides unique opportunities to the students for group living, collective experience sharing and constant interaction with community. Special campings are organised generally on various developmental issues of national importance.
Importance of NSS
NSS is playing an important role in the development of the country and of the students associated with it. The NSS offers a wonderful opportunity to use a part of spare time to empathise and help the poor and the under privileged fellow countrymen living in slums and villages. It provides the volunteers with an opportunity to train themselves as the future leaders and decision makers of the country. It provides training to equip the volunteers with the minimum necessary skills to carryout programmes. It provides with opportunities to take part in inter-collegiate / inter-university / inter-state camps and exchange ideas with students from other colleges / universities / states.
NSS Enrollment Drive
Enrollment drive was conducted in the month of June and July, 2018 for enrolling volunteers for college NSS Unit. Total 100 students were enrolled as NSS unit volunteers.
Inauguration of Newly formed National Service Scheme Unit in PTES
PeopleTree Education Society’s, College of BCA, BBA and B.Com, Nehru Nagar, Belagavi has organized inauguration of newly established NSS Unit.
The program was held on 13th August, 2018 at 10.00 a.m.in the college premises.The program began with invocation by Miss. Soundarya Bagewadi and group.
Prof. Anil Kanaganni, Principal, PTES welcomed the gathering.
Miss.Raveena Gosavi introduced the dignitaries present on the dais.
Dr. S O Halasagi, Program Co-ordinator, NSS Cell, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi was the Chief Guest.
Er.Shri. Jagadish A Savadatti, Chairman, Peopletree Education Society was the president of the function. Shri.Sanjay Ahuja, Vice – Chairman, PTES, Shri. Biplove Belwal, Director, PTES were the Guest of honor.
“Sadbhavana Diwas Celebration”
Sadbhavana Diwas was celebrated in the college premises by National Service Scheme Unit on 18-08-2018 at 10.00 a.m.
Prof. Radhika Wader briefed the volunteers about Late Prime Minister of our country Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, his personality, vision, contribution for growth of our nation in detail.
The NSS Volunteers took “SADBHAVANA DAY PLEDGE” on this occasion.
Prof.Arun V Patil administered Sadbhavana Day Pledge to the NSS Volunteers.
Rangoli, Speech, and Singing competitions were organized for NSS Volunteers on this occasion.
NSS FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATION
National Service Scheme Golden Jubilee Year Program Inauguration Ceremony and National Service Scheme Foundation Day Celebration was organized in the college premises on 24th September, 2018 at 9.30 a.m.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan – Swachhata Hi Seva – 2018 Campaign organized by PTES NSS Unit
Our college NSS Unit has conducted various social service activities as a part of Swachha Bharat Mission – “Swachhata Hi Seva – 2018” (SHS) campaign from 15th September, 2018 to 2nd October, 2018.
Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahaddur Shastri Jayanti Celebration
Peopletree Education Society’s, BBA, BCA, B.Com College, Neharu Nagar, Belagavi, NSS Unit has celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, and LalBahaddur Shastri Jayanti on 2nd October,2018 at 8.00 a.m. in the college premises.
On this occasion, as a part of Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan, all the teaching, non – teaching staff, NSS Volunteers, and students cleaned the college campus and its surrounding premises.
NSS Unit Tree Plantation Activity
NSS Unit of the college has undertaken tree plantation activity in college premises on 14.10.2018. On this occasion 10 trees were planted by the NSS volunteers.
Prof.Anil Kanaganni, Principal, PTES addressed the volunteers and explained them the role played by trees in maintaining the ecological balance.
Prof.Vishwanath S Pujari, NSS Program Officer, Prof.Arun V Patil and all the NSS Volunteers were present.
World Food Day Celebration
NSS Unit of the college has celebrated World Food Day on 16.10.2018 at 11.00 a.m. in the college premises.
On this occasion Prof.Anil Kanaganni, Principal addressed the volunteers and told about significance of World Food Day.
Prof.Radhika Wader informed the volunteers about the history of celebration of World Food Day.
Prof.Vishwanath S Pujari, NSS Program Officer, spoke about relevance of nutritious food.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) Celebration
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) was celebrated in the college by the NSS Unit on 31.10.2018 at 11.00 a.m. to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Blood Donation Camp
A Blood donation camp was organized by college NSS Unit in collaboration with Mahaveer Blood Bank, Belagavi on 02.11.2018.

NSS Annual Special Camp Activities Report
Peopletree Education Society’s, BBA, BCA, B.Com College, Nehru Nagar, Belagavi has organized seven days NSS Annual Special Camp at adopted village B K Kangrali from 08/01/2019 to 14/01/2019. Total 50 NSS Volunteers along with five staff members participated in this camp.
On 08/01/2019, the inauguration of NSS Annual Special Camp was held. The program was held at B K Kangrali Gram Panchayat office at 11.00 a.m.
The program began with lighting up of lamp from the dignitaries followed by garlanding the portray of Mahatma Gandhi.
Shri. Datta R Patil, Chairman, B K Kangrali Gram Panchayat was the chief guest. Smt. Kousrjahan B Sayyad, Vice – Chairman, B K Kangrali, Smt. Kalyani Chougule, PDO, BK Kangrali Gram Panchayat, Shri. Kallappa Mailannavar, President, SDMC, BK Kangrali, Kannada Primary School were the guest of honors.
Er.Shri. Jagadish A Savadatti, Chairman, PTES was the president of the function.

Er.Shri. Jagadish A Savadatti, Chairman, PTES in his presidential remark, encouraged the NSS Volunteers to participate actively in all the special camp activities. Miss. Raveena Gosavi and Miss. Priya Shahapurkar anchored the function.

The details of the activities conducted in the Annual Special Camp were as under:
On 08/01/2019, our NSS Volunteers went to all the areas of B K Kangrali and informed them about the Free Dental Check up Camp organized by our NSS Unit on 09/01/2018 and also requested the villagers to attend the camp for free dental check up.
On 09/01/2019, from 10.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m Free Dental Check Up Camp was organized for villagers, primary school students, and Anganwadi kids by our NSS Unit in association with KLE’s Vishwanath Katti Dental College, Belagavi. The villagers and primary school students, Anganwadi children took free dental check up, consultancy from with KLE’s Vishwanath Katti Dental College, Belagavi. On the same day, KLE’s Vishwanath Katti Dental College, Belagavi staff members organized a special lecture on Dental Health to the Govt. Kannada Primary & High School students and villagers in the school premises.
On 10/01/2019, our NSS Unit with the cooperation of Forest Department has organized Tree Plantation Program at B K Kangrali. Our volunteers planted total 50 saplings at the various places of B K Kangrali. Evening 4.00 p.m a special guest lecture was organized for Govt. Kannada Primary & High School students, villagers and for our NSS Volunteers on “Importance of Yoga”. Yoga Teachers Shri. Mallikarjun Kavatagi and Smt. Shaila Wali were the guest lectures. In their lecture they spoke about the meaning, objectives, importance of yoga for human beings. They have also shown some of the Yogasanas practically in front of the gathering.
On 11.01.2019 our NSS Unit has organized a Rally on “Swaccha Bharat Abhiyaan” at B K Kangrali and also cleaned the premises of B K Kangrali Kannada School, Anganwadi and various streets. Evening 4.00 p.m. through our NSS Unit speech and singing competitions were organized for the B K Kangrali Government Kannada Primary School students.
On 12.01.2019 our NSS Unit has celebrated Swamy Vivekanand 156th Birth Anniversary as “National Youth Day”. Shri. V M Mullur, Assistant Teacher, B K Kangrali Kannada Primary School was the chief guest. He addressed the gathering and spoke on the life, principles, philosophy, achievements of Swamy Vivekananda in detail.
On 13.01.2019 morning 11.00 a.m. a rally was organized in B K Kangrali to create awareness in community on Environment and its protection from the pollution. Through the rally our college NSS Unit volunteers tried to spread awareness on maintaining the ecological balance and the need to plant more trees. Evening 4.00 p.m a guest lecture was organized on “Environment Protection and Water Conservation”. Shri. Pradeep Marennavar, Assistant Teacher, Goodshephard School, Ganeshpur, Belagavi was the guest lecture. He addressed the gathering and spoke about the Environment, causes for its pollution, measures to be taken for its protection and water conservation techniques in detail.
On 14.01.2019 from 10.00 a.m PTES NSS Unit has distributed total 500 cloth carry bags at B K Kangrali village and also requested the villagers to use the cloth carry bags instead of plastic carry bags.
On 14.01.2019, evening 4.00 p.m the valedictory function of PTES NSS Unit Annual Special Camp was held. Shri. Sharad B Balikai, Head of Marketing and Export Department, Jina Special Steels Work Pvt. Limited, Belagavi was the chief guest. Smt. Kausrjahan B Sayyad, Vice – Chairman, B K Kangrali Gram Panchayat, Shri. Bandenawaj Sayyad, Director, Bashiban High School, Belagavi, Shri. V M Dodwad, Head Master, B K Kangrali Govt. Kannada Primary School were the guest of honors. Prof. Anil Kanaganni, Principal, PTES was the president of the function.
Chief guest Shri. Sharad B Balikai addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of NSS Annual Special Camp Activities. Smt. Kausrjahan B Sayyad, Vice – Chairman, B K Kangrali Gram Panchayat, in her speech appreciated the work done by PTES NSS Unit at B K Kangrali village in the NSS Annual Special Camp. Prof. Vishwanath S Pujari, NSS Program Officer, PTES, NSS Unit briefed the gathering about the NSS Annual Special Camp Activities.
On this occasion prizes were also distributed to the winners of speech and singing competitions from the dignitaries present on the dais.
